This sculptural series consists of assemblages made from found metal residues sourced from a scrapyard, combined with copper strips and discarded sculpting wood from my shared studio space. The metal fragments, originally by-products of machining processes, carry distortions formed through industrial production and disposal.
After documenting the material traces of the audience's interactions with my work, I sought to create sculptures as poetic interpretations of how viewers approached and engaged with the materials. The found metal objects, shaped by mechanical labour and their journey toward discard, became starting points for reassembly. By incorporating previously used and abandoned materials—some originating from other artists in the shared studio—the works function as homages to both artistic and industrial labour. Forcing these disparate materials into relation initiated a feedback loop in which they respond to and settle into one another’s material qualities and spatial demands, mirroring the relational dynamics and meaning-making processes observed in the audience’s engagement.
