Collaborative drawing
The project consists of three large circular drawings created collaboratively with my family during the COVID-19 lockdown. Each drawing is accompanied by an audio recording of the conversations that took place during its making. Participants used white crayons and pastels on white paper, producing marks that remained subtle and partially hidden until revealed through shifts in light and perspective. The drawings were made in different domestic spaces, allowing environmental conditions to influence the process and atmosphere of each session.
Through spontaneous and collective mark-making, the project visually explores family dynamics during a period of confinement and uncertainty. The use of white on white created an intimate and vulnerable creative space, where the outcome was not immediately visible, encouraging trust, attentiveness, and sensory awareness. By incorporating sound, touch, movement, and spatial context, the work engages multiple senses and adopts qualities of art therapy, fostering reflection and dialogue. Playfully yet sensitively, the project addresses the complexities of family relationships during the heightened emotional and spatial pressures of the pandemic.
